Year End 2020
To say 2020 was a challenge would be an understatement! None of us could have ever imagined a year such as this, but our God could. Not only that, He has told us all about it and what is to come in His Word. If you haven’t studied prophesy, there is no better time than now. If you don’t know where to start, the book of Daniel is a great place.
When we first learned of this pandemic, we were just weeks away from our DNOW event. Naturally, we cancelled out of precaution of the unknown. As time progressed, we continually felt God reminding us of our mission. “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.” Psalms 71:18 NIV
Reinforced by “The Great Commission” …
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 NIV
God was constantly reminding us of the urgency to bring others to Christ. When the kids returned to school, even though most were virtual, we felt called to gather them for our annual “Back to School” event. We made some changes to adhere to the COVID-19 restrictions, but the kids were so excited to come and be as normal as possible. It was an awesome night of worship! We must all be reminded that our mission field is wherever we are at the moment!
As we drew near the time to plan for our annual Camp ReFuel, once again we heard God’s call. We talked with the camp administrators who had been holding camps safely since July and we began plans for our October camp. Some might say this was a huge risk; those who attended would say God was really at work. We can thankfully say we don’t know of any Covid issues resulting from our actions. Although there were many God moments during the weekend, the one that stands out as goose bump worthy is the student who shared with our camp pastor that this weekend “literally saved her life!” That one, struggling, lost sheep, who was saved because of our time together, made every risk we took totally worth it!
Looking back on this different year, in all of our efforts, God has been with us, just as He promises in Matthew 28:20. If you look closely, you will probably find that He has been with you and at work in your life too. He has made us all slow down, given us time to reconnect with our family, shown us the things that really matter and the stillness to seek Him and listen for His voice. He alone, is in control and we must trust in His plan and big picture! As each of us look to 2021 to be a more normal and better year, only God knows what is really to come. May you look to Him to be your rock and for your hope and guidance as you plan for the new year.
Please be in prayer for our ministry as we seek God’s direction for 2021 and we thank each of you for being a partner in our service to the youth of our community. May your Christmas be filled with love, joy, peace and hope and may the New Year be one in which to embrace all that God has planned for us. ❤️
In His Service,
